Lauren Boleng's Selected as a Recipient for the Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship

One of our wonderful undergraduate research assistants, Lauren Boleng, was recently awarded the Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship. This scholarship provided Lauren a total of $7,000 for her study abroad program.

Lab's Qualitative Coding

To organize initial codes for over 100 qualitative interviews with healthcare providers, Dr. Kim and the grad students (Hannah, Joe, and Nguyen) met once a week as a group to discuss and organize the findings. All the codes were printed out, and the team went through and discuss each code to place them in the most appropriate category.

Winner of the Department's Door Decoration Contest!

Community Needs Assessment

Dr. Kim, Nguyen, and Grace were conducting a needs assessment with people in the East Lubbock community to better understand the community's needs for mental health resources, and how the lab could effectively serve them.

Workshop and Panel



Dr. Kim joined the graduate students in the virtual panel on "Applying to Grad School" to help undergraduate RAs develop better understand of graduate programs and the application process.



Hannah and Nguyen were hosting the virtual workshop on "How to Conduct a Literature Review" The workshop provided some strategies and suggestions that undergraduate RAs could use when conducting a literature review.

Lauren Boleng's Acceptance Into the McNair Program!

One of our lab's exemplary research assistants, Lauren Boleng, was recently accepted to the McNair Scholars Program at Texas Tech University. Not only that, Lauren also received scholarships from the United Cooperative Services (UCS) and the Biology Department.

Nguyen Nguyen and Trinh Duong were awarded the
Psi Chi Research Award!

Nguyen Nguyen was working with Trinh Duong on the research project titled "Workplace Discrimination among Midlife Adults with Chronic Pain: The Longitudinal Buffering Effect of Work-to-Family Enrichment" for the Western Psychological Association (WPA) conference this year. Their research was selected to receive a 2021 Psi Chi WPA Regional Research Award! Congratulations, team!

Dr. Kim was a guest speaker at a panel discussing chronic pain, racial disparities, and healing.

Dr. Kim joined Dr. Murphy-Price and Danielle in a virtual panel to discuss the intersection of artistic practice, racial disparities in pain communication, and healing through community art activities.
